Alivia Schwab Death News: Alivia Schwab Killed In fatal Morris, Illinois shooting
Shelley Hert, 63, of Ridgecrest is grieving the untimely death of her daughter Alivia Schwab, 40, who was shot by Morris Police in Illinois on September 29.
Hert revealed the tragic circumstances behind her daughter’s death and Schwab’s close ties to Ridgecrest in an interview with The Daily Independent on Thursday.
Schwab, a longtime Ridgecrest resident, attended Murray Middle School before completing her studies at Burroughs High School in 2001.
The tragic event happened when police officers Casie Price and Nicholas Pampinella answered a 9-1-1 call from a therapist who had been treating Schwab. The therapist told the dispatcher that Schwab had threatened to hurt himself and had a knife.
The stressful moments are captured in graphic police body camera footage. When they get to the apartment complex where Schwab recently moved after leaving the Bourbonnais Terrace Mental Health Facility on September 20, Officer Pampinella tells Officer Price to use non-lethal tactics.
In the video, Schwab is seen being approached by police outside her apartment while holding a 9-inch chef’s knife in her left hand and using her right hand to talk on her phone.
Pampinella tells Price repeatedly to put down the knife, but she insists that she use her taser gun instead. But when Price fumbles with her taser, the fatal turn of events occurs, and Pampinella pulls a four-round shot from his revolver. Schwab is shot three times, twice striking her midsection and once killingly striking her face, which causes her to die instantly.
